Light of the week; Stanley Novart

Stanley Novart founder of SD Jesey Point Tz.

Meet Stanley Novart, a graduate from the University of Dodoma who took a Bachelor of Commerce in Procurement and Logistics Management.

Okay, so Who do you look up to like Who's your role model?

Stan: My Dad..I’ve seen him working hard in different kinds of gigs and he’s never shameful of what he does as long as it's something that brings profit and benefits him.

Okay, so when did you decide that you wanted to start a business like what motivated you and why did you choose to sell Jerseys?

Stan: Honestly I think it was during Quarantine because of the Covid pandemic, it was like the wake-up call for me, I then thought that i gotta do something to earn my own money.

I chose jerseys because I’m a huge football fan, I have made so many friends from football so I knew that its something that I could be really good at and I already had an assured market

So so far from you selling Jerseys what are the challenges that you've faced and how do you cope with them?

Stan: Don't think I can list all the challenges but the main ones include, People, not knowing the size of the jersey they wear and so you might send someone a jersey and he/she returns it cause it doesn’t fit them the way they expected..to cope with this I usually ask for pictures and try to approximate the sizes that would fit them and so far it been so helpful

Another challenge is people are always trying to get a discount, I think that's for every business. So I have to state a higher price than the original price so that even if discounted I won't be at a loss

Another challenge is some areas are not easily accessible for deliveries but well it is what it is.

So what have you gained or benefited from this business of yours?

Stan: Not so much I can tell. But I’ve been able to fulfil most of my basic needs and other personal stuff

apart from monetary gains well I have met more new people improving my social connections.

Okay, so how would you inspire youth like you who are starting up businesses but have no idea at all how to start up?.

Stan: Just go for it..but Don’t go for the profit or don’t go for something your not sure about. Be sure about what you wanna do and try it out, be sure of the market you’ll start with then go for it. Your first goal should be growing your brand and that means you gotta give the best product and customer care. Profits will come eventually. So just go for it carefully.
